1. Composition is using design to make all elements of a piece of work a whole. The book says it is the glue that hold all elements together.

2. Unity, as it applies to design is creating a design that looks like its a whole. Using design this way, all the piece of the design work together, fit with each other, or belong together.

3. Other elements of design such as line, can be used to create unity when they are all the same quality.

4. The layout of a design is where are the elements will be placed in the space. The whole should be greater than the sum of it's parts.

CityGo, Way to go in this

Yellow, green, and purple a split compliment perfect for a Persian party!

This triad is blue, red, and yellow on a child's toy. Anyone got $0.50?

Purple, yellow, and blue a split complement for dinning in at the mall. (table and chair color scheme)

This was kind of a lucky find but since us girls really like the purse we wanted to use it as our monochromatic color scheme.

Open Mic

I wanted to blog about color schemes and Salina, KS. This town doesn't appear to use the color schemes that we have learned about. Does that mean that the designers of our signs, buildings, and advertisements are not educated on color. Or is the simple fact that the designers are not concerned about the color of things as much as they should be?
I have learned so much in this class and I have taken a whole new perspective of design. I am not trying to sound so 333, but the color hunt was so difficult. I wanted to be really creative with it but all we found was 2 colors and black and white! Which leads me to my next thought. I think the red, white, and blue color scheme is of coarse very American, however it seems like a design "cop-out" a term that my mom uses a lot. It's like, "Hey we cant figure out what colors to use so lets use those, we cant go wrong!" I think there is also and under-use of tints and shading. Its all very bold, straight hue colors. There are so many beautiful colors and I am excited to see more color. Oh, and the new overpass, the red whit and green. What's that about? Are those our town colors? That question has bothered me for a long time. If you know, fill me in. That's all I can think of right now. Peace and color!!!
